Every pastor wants to see their church love Jesus . . . but what about their kids? Today we’re getting real about one of the most important — and personal — parts of ministry: helping your own children fall in love with the Savior you serve.
What were some key decisions you made early on as a parent to prioritize your children’s spiritual formation?
- Karen and I decided our boys were the most important disciples in our life.
- We made our home a safe place to ask questions about life, faith, and Jesus.
How did you teach your boys to engage with Scripture and prayer?
- We started with a formal approach, and that did not work well for us.
- We landed on an organic approach that took advantage of natural teaching moments.
How did you model faith in a way that felt authentic and not performative?
- We never distinguished between how we conducted our lives at church and how we conducted our lives at home
