LEADING FROM ALIGNMENT PODCAST EPISODE 303: BUILDERS VS. DISMANTLERS – PART 2

by | Sep 16, 2025 | Builder, Leadership, Ministry Leader, Pastor

Last week in Part 1 of our conversation, we tackled a troubling trend: Christians throwing bombs at each other. It’s disheartening to watch, and it has driven me to my knees in prayer. The truth is, it’s always easier to tear down than to build—easier to criticize than to create solutions. In Part 2 of our discussion, we share three more reflections on this critical subject.

Episode 302 Review:

  • Thought 1: Jesus Is a builder.
  • Thought 2: Unity is not Uniformity.
  • Thought 3: The Church Is His, not ours.

Thought 4: Tearing Down vs. Building Up

  • Scripture warns those who divide, destroy, or devour the household of God (1 Corinthians 3:16–17; Titus 3:10).
  • God calls His people to edify—to build up one another in faith, hope, and love (1 Thessalonians 5:11; Ephesians 4:29).
  • Question: Am I joining Jesus in building, or am I siding with the enemy in tearing down?

Thought 5: The Enemy’s Strategy

  • Satan’s agenda: to steal, kill, destroy (John 10:10). Resist the temptation to take his bait!
  • Those who assume the work of tearing down the Church, even unintentionally, are aligning with the destructive strategy of our mortal enemy.

Thought 6: Our Call

  • Love the Church as Christ loves the Church (Ephesians 5:25-26).
  • Tell truth, confront, even speak prophetically, but do all these in love—with the aim of strengthening the Body.
  • Be solutions-focused instead of merely finger-pointing.
  • Pray, encourage, and protect the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace (Ephesians 4:3).

Preventive Steps for Organizations

  •  Develop Clear Policies.
  • Prioritize Team Leadership Over Superstar Leadership.
  • Practice Transparency.
  • Foster a Culture of Humility and Service.
  • Train Leaders in Healthy Power Dynamics.
  • Empower the Congregation.
  • Model Healthy Conflict Resolution.

When we choose to build rather than tear down, we reflect His heart to a watching world.
