Happy New Year! We are so excited for another year of podcasts with you!

Let’s kick off the new year with a challenge that could change everything: what if the biggest barrier to your growth isn’t your strategy, resources, or talent—but your mindset? In this episode, we dive into how great leaders think differently, exploring the power of a true growth mindset and why it’s the secret ingredient that separates the exceptional from the average. Join us as we unpack how embracing this conviction can transform not just your leadership, but your life, your family, and the organization you lead.

6 Characteristics of a Personal Growth Mindset

Takes on challenges

  • Discomfort is where growth happens.
  • If we never attempt something that stretches us, we get stuck

Actively asks for feedback

  • Feedback can be encouraging, and it can be painful.
  • We need feedback when we are doing something well.
  • We need input when doing something not so well.

Sees failure as a learning opportunity

  • Leaders with a growth mindset take reasonable risks.
  • Failure is success if you learn from it.

Possesses a thirst for knowledge

  • If we think we’ve arrived, we won’t see the need to learn new things.
  • The day we think we’ve reached the mountain top and there are no other learning hills to climb is the day we stop growing.

Celebrates wins

  • A growth mindset understands the power of celebration.
  • Take time to celebrate with your team.

Regulates its emotions

  • It doesn’t get too low when a goal is missed nor too high when a goal is met. or exceeded.
  • Plant and water with excellence and faithfulness . . . then rest assured the outcomes belong to God.

Why should you care about adopting a personal growth mindset? Because it will shape you into the leader God intends you to become
