Leaders rarely set out to become exhausted, anxious, discouraged, or ready to walk away, but many eventually find themselves there. In this episode, we explore how a five-step alignment journey—Spirit, Body, Thought Patterns & Emotions, Relationships, and Rhythms—can lead to powerful breakthroughs in leadership and life. Along the way, we share three leadership wishes for our listening and watching friends, along with unsolicited stories from clients who have experienced the difference firsthand.
Wish 1: Get/Stay Aligned
- Remember why you signed up to lead in the first place: love for God.
- Create space for meaningful times of connection with God daily.
- Keep your life packed with replenishing relationships.
- Getting/staying aligned in your personal world enhances your professional world.
Wish 2: Get/Stay Focused
- Remember your calling . . . your assignment . . . your mission . . . your vision. Every day, try to do at least one thing which moves the ball down the field.
- As much as possible, work in your areas of gifting and passion. Refuse to allow the invisible pull of the micro to squeeze out the macro.
- Don’t let disruption become your default. Share the leadership load.
Wish 3: Get/Stay Centered
- Remember what really matters.
- Work from your identity, not for your identity.
- Stay centered on who you are in Jesus Christ.
Final Thoughts
- Take these five alignment components— spiritual hunger, physical fitness, psychological integration, replenishing relationships, and life-giving rhythms—and imbed them deeply into your personal life.
- If we get aligned, our families, our teams, our businesses, and our churches will become the unstoppable forces God has always meant them to be.
