Have you ever felt like an underdog? Like you are operating at a disadvantage? That you are unlikely to win at home, or at work, or at your walk with God, or at your God-given purpose?

If so . . . welcome to the club! The Bible is full of people who felt they were underdogs.

In today’s episode, John and Jim unpack an encouraging idea: You + God is a winning combination!

1 Corinthians 1:26-29 – “Brothers, think of what you were when you were called. Not many of you were wise by human standards; not many were influential; not many were of noble birth. But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong. He chose the lowly things of this world, and the despised things—and the things that are not—to nullify the things that are, so that no one may boast before Him.”

Several examples from the Bible:

  • Moses
  • Gideon
  • The Twelve apostles

The most powerful message ever has been entrusted to the weakest delivery system on planet earth . . . redeemed humanity.

Why should a leader care about this?

  • When your gift set and God’s power come together, amazing things happen.
  • God has deposited greatness in you.
  • What God calls us to do is always bigger than ourselves, our gifting.

Jesus often chooses the underdog. The least likely person.
