We bring to the mic Pastor Jim Westheim, Director of Operations at Faith Alive Church in West Branch, Michigan. Jim will unpack the practical steps Faith Alive has taken to build their team from within over the last three years.

How did the idea of building from within start with Faith Alive?

• I heard Jim Wiegand share the idea at a regional meeting of pastors.
• It resonated deeply with me.

How have you integrated the idea into the culture of your church?

• We started with the pastoral staff. They needed to know it thoroughly. We all spoke the same language.
• We moved next to the department heads and repeated what we did with the pastoral staff.
• We incorporated the 3 Circles . . . Passion, Pain, Proficiency . . . into our Growth Track.

What advice would you to a pastor who is considering building from within?

• Understand that building from within is not an overnight thing.
• It is a “whole culture” effort.
